MNASE Basketball League

Welcome to MNASE “MENACE” Basketball League LLC, we are an amateur youth sports organization located in Minnesota started by an individual. Our team is currently still growing and are continuously looking for likeminded individuals who are interested in helping support youth enrichment programs. Our team currently consist of Izell Scales (League Administrator and 17U Head Coach) and Kaitlyn Foster (Coach).  

MNASE Basketball League offers both AAU/Summer Traveling Teams as well as basketball Camps, Clinics and Personal Training. Our Summer AAU Program is referred to as the MNASE Minors which offers programming for both youth boys and girls and has 5 different divisions that include 9 and under, 11 and under, 13 and under, 15 and under and 17 and under. The Summer Program operates from April until August of each year and includes tryouts, cuts and invitations to be placed on one of the 25 teams. There may be up to 5 teams per divisions while divisions include teams for both boys and girls. MNASE Basketball League has also invested in a Dr. Dish CT to assist athletes through training while working with coaches during individual training sessions. This helps athletes track their progress.

MNASE Basketball League is located in Central, MN including services provided to Saint Cloud and Smaller Townships in Central Minnesota. We focus on providing inner city opportunities and experience to youth who would not have to commit to a distant drive for practices multiple times a week. We host practices and/or tryouts in Saint Cloud, MN and Foreston, MN. Izell moved to Saint Cloud, MN in 2019 where he offered individual trainings at no cost to all that were interest for 2 consecutive years, upon moving he became the Head Girls Coach for the 8th Grade Girls as well as the Tournament Coordinator for Foley Youth Basketball Association.

MNASE Basketball League pronounced “MENACE” is an acronym that stands for Minnesota Amateur Sports Empire which was started September 11th 2017 in Saint Paul, MN by Izell Scales. Izell graduated from Johnson Sr. High School in 2010, he began coaching in the Saint Paul Parks and Recs after graduating, where he would volunteer coach for 5 years. He coached youth sports including basketball and soccer at multiple recreation centers as well as different youth sports organizations before pursuing his own business in youth sports. After assisting other Youth Sports Organizations grow he decided to transition his business to Central, MN. Growing in up Saint Paul, MN, Izell noticed that basketball was a great outlet for him to stay out of trouble while gaining life skills such as teamwork, respect, sportsmanship and discipline. His coach David Brewer at the Eastside Salvation Army made him realize that he wanted to give back to the community and become a positive role model for youth in the community. He played for the Salvation Army from the age of 12 until he was 16 years old, where they placed 2nd Place in the MYAS Grade State Tournament. Coach David had a great impact on Izell deciding to pursue a profession in youth sports, providing guidance, support, understand and demanding respect for and from all individuals.  

MNASE Basketball League is located in Central, MN however we do not have a facility so we have contracts with schools and other youth-based organizations that offer gyms. MNASE Basketball League bases its values on fairness, respect, hard-work, dedication, support, optimism, honor and teamwork. While MNASE Basketball League is currently growing we look forward to adding different sports to our program in the future to include multiple sports under our organization. We will focus on offer affordable solutions to families and working with each individual family to see how we may assist them and/or increase their child’s chances of pursuing their sports dreams. We focus mainly on the development of individual athletes while implementing the concept of teamwork and an all for one, one for all mentality.

MNASE Basketball League differs from other youth sports organization in many ways, the most prevalent is that we are not a Non-Profit, however we have non-profit values. We offer many discounts and have passion for what we do. What also differentiates us from our competitors is that our athletes that graduate from our 17 and under program coach for the younger groups to such as the 9 and under, 11 and under and 13 and under after graduating from High School and getting prepared for college. MNASE Basketball League also assist with recruitment of players for college by reaching out to college recruiters, offer assistance in building player profiles and staying connected to players during our off-season by attending school games and other events and activities that the student-athlete pursues. We offer rates that affordable for families and even sometimes cover some cost for families that do not have the funds to cover registration fees for programming. We have connected with different schools and organizations and also host an annual 3 on 3 and music concert in Milaca, MN Recreation Park to offer more activities to families and players.
